Fourth of July 2013
This year's US Independence Day is a Thursday so we decided to take the Friday off and go on a mini Arizona road trip.
Montezuma Well
A lake in the middle of the desert.
This is a Roman Catholic Chapel located in Sedona with a wonderful view.

Where Pop and I shared a plate of ribs for lunch.Yum!!!

Flagstaff Visitor Center
Meteor Crater
This is a crater located in Flagstaff. Seeing the size of the crater hole makes you realize how small you are in this big world. Also, mahangin sa labas!
Longest Map in the US
Once upon a time, when Route 66 was still the main thorough fair in the US, there were a lot of hyped up stop overs like the longest map in the US. It is even on Google Now's nearby attractions. :))
Sunset Crater
Unlike the previous place, this is a volcano crater. We paid a small park fee for this but when we saw it, we don't know what to make of the actual volcano but on the way there we can see miles and miles of lava devastated trees.
Wupatki Ruins
While driving around the Sunset Crater, an officer stopped us to inform us that the road is closed (due to bad weather) and that we need to make a detour. Our detour led us here. This area was supposedly closed but we were still able to roam around.

Seattle Space Needle
On our way back to the Philippines for the holidays and for our church wedding, we had more than 12 hrs of layover in Seattle. This led to our first transit/layover trip. We arrived in Seattle past 5 pm. which means during our layover, most of the attractions are already closed. After persuading Popy, we decided to go to the Seattle Space Needle. After dropping off our bags at the hotel, we requested the shuttle service to take us to the nearest Light Rail Station. We later found out that there were other hotels nearer the station. Good thing the shuttle service was free of charge though we had to give a tip to the driver. Based from the hotel receptionist's advice, we took the Light Rail up to the station with the monorail then took the monorail up to the Seattle Space Needle. And here is our complimentary picture:
We weren't quite prepared for the cold there so pardon our pale faces.:)) We were hoping to celebrate our monthsary with a steak dinner there but unfortunately, all the nearby restaurants were already closed and the public transportation closes by midnight so we headed back to the hotel. Fortunately, a bar near the hotel is still open so we just ate burgers there. You could say that hunger caused me to have googly eyes. hehe!

"A" Mountain
On our last Sunday in Tucson before we left for our wedding, we accompanied our newly married friends Yogeshwar and Jayeshri around Tucson.
First, we went to two Sam Levitz stores to look at some furnitures. Since I was not in Tucson while Popy was filling up the apartment, I was happy that Popy and I got a chance to do some relocation "window" shopping together. We got to test some couches, beds, recliners and office furniture. We were like Goldilocks in the three bears' house.:))
After which, we went to "A" Mountain. This is literally a mountain with the letter "A" in it. I believe it was made by a nearby university as a sign of school spirit or something to that effect.:p It was a similar experience to our Hollywood sign trip but with a different set of letters and couple friends.:p

Then, we headed back to the apartment and had our new couple friends try Popy's advance Christmas gift to me which is a Just Dance 4 set for PS3. It was well received by Yogi.:))
Before we dropped off Yogi and Jayeshri to their hotel, we went to Costco to do some last minute pasalubong shopping. Suprisingly, we didn't buy anything unlike our last two previous visits since they didn't have what I was looking for which is good for our wallets :))

Thanksgiving 2012
Since we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the Philippines, this is my first Thanksgiving and our first Thanksgiving as a couple. Our thanksgiving lunch was sponsored by our friend Hector's parents. Auntie prepared the traditional turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, bread and butter, and a dish made out of plantain bananas. I also liked the mango wine. We also celebrated Sebastian's 11th month with cakes.
After the lunch, Pop and I took advantage of the long weekend to go to LA. Pop did all of the driving. :p We almost got into trouble since the GPS led us to I-8 which passes the border and we didn't have our passports. Thankfully, the officer let us pass.
Spouses Daena and Justin accommodated us in their apartment and took us around. Since it was Black Friday, our first stop was the mall. I did most of the Christmas shopping for my female entourage there.:p We had lunch at Bulgogi House, an eat-all-you-can Korean barbeque place. I would post a picture of our lunch but Topeng is taking forever to give me a picture.
We passed by a Filipino grocery then headed back to the apartment afterwards. Needless to say, the afternoon was spent sleeping off the heavy lunch.:p In the evening, we went to Sta. Monica Pier to take pictures.
Then we headed back to the apartment and ate carbonara dinner by Daena.
Saturday, we had another big lunch at a Pho place. Big is actually an understatement for this one:))
After lunch, we went to a Culver City park for some picture taking again.
Finally, we were able to do some LA sightseeing.We went to Hollywood sign and walked for less than 45 mins on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (since parking prices are steep on that area:p)
Back at the apartment, we had dinner of Chinese takeout. Daena and Justin sure knows the best foods in town. hehe!
Sunday morning, we headed back to Arizona. This time on the I-10 Phoenix route.We ate lunch and did some shopping at Ikea. I finally was able to do some driving from Phoenix to Tucson. Now I know that cruise control was soooo boring. I almost slept on the wheel one time. [-( We headed to Shy's house to drop off some items from the Filipino grocery and Ikea; then went to church. The shopping mania wasn't over as we went to Walmart to do our grocery for the week. The end.
